Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give Sets $1 Million Donation Goal for Round Five
May 15, 2018
Representatives with the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give teamed up with LPGA Pro Brittany Lang during its Media Day event to announce a $1 million goal for the 5th annual tournament and make a food donation to North Kent Connect, a food pantry in Rockford that services northern Kent County.
“That money will go a long way in helping feed our hungry neighbors,” Meijer President & CEO Rick Keyes said during the press conference.
The previous four tournaments have generated more than $3.1 million for Simply Give, which stocks the shelves of the retailer’s food pantry partners across the Midwest.
That equals more than 3.1 million heads of lettuce, 3.1 million boxes of spaghetti or nearly 2 million jars of peanut butter.
The 2018 Meijer LPGA Classic will be held June 12-17 at Blythefield Country Club, and will once again coincide with the spring Simply Give campaign. To see a list of food pantries participating in the spring campaign, please click here.
