With more than 256 stores across the Midwest, Meijer is in a prime position to sponsor a large variety of athletic programs, from big-name professional teams to K-12 programs at small-town schools. Our partnerships with sports teams is one more way we support the community and lend a hand to activities that bring fans together.
“Meijer customers are very passionate and loyal about the teams they support and we're right there with them,” said Cathy Cooper, Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Giving for Meijer.
Our efforts to get behind communities where Meijer customers and team members live and work have given us the opportunity to partner with several incredible organizations across the realms of major league, minor league and college athletics.
Meijer has partnerships with major league professional teams in Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and the National Football League that are based in the states where our stores are located.
Meijer also has longstanding relationships within the Big Ten conference, as well as other universities and colleges across our Midwest footprint.
We’re pleased to be the landmark sponsor of Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, a dynamic space that is home to both the Detroit Pistons basketball and Detroit Red Wings hockey teams. Additionally, the Willie Horton Field of Dreams presented by Meijer allows Detroit-area children to play diamond sports, football and soccer, thanks to the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL).
In addition to the many teams and venues we support, we are also proud to host our own professional sporting event each year. The Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give has been bringing world-class golf to West Michigan since 2014, while also generating awareness and more than $6.3 million in donations for hunger relief across the Midwest.
