Each year, the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give draws some of the best women golfers in the world to Grand Rapids, Mich. for four days of competition at Blythefield Country Club. While the 2020 tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we're happy to have brought the event back again this year.
The 2021 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give returned to continue its tradition of kicking off the summer and feeding hungry families, raising $1.1 million for our neighbors in need.
It’s an opportunity for the entire community to get involved and have fun while supporting a very important cause – feeding those facing food insecurity in our communities.
over the past 8 years, the tournament has generated more than $7.4 million for our Simply Give food pantry partners across the Midwest
“The Meijer LPGA Classic has made an incredible impact on our hungry neighbors, and we are excited to continue to come together with the community to make a difference,” Meijer LPGA Classic Executive Director Cathy Cooper said. “This tournament is such a special way for families to spend time together, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the community support.”
Thanks to its variety of family-friendly events held throughout tournament week, the Meijer LPGA Classic remains one of the premier events on the LPGA Tour and was named the Best Family Experience on the Tour in 2018 and touted as the Best Tournament for families and foodies in 2019 during the Gold Driver Awards.
there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy during tournament week:
A 5k Run & Walk presented by Kellogg’s is sanctioned by USA Track & Field and is held at Rockford High School.
Discovery Land is an air-conditioned kids’ destination with toys, activities, LPGA player autograph sessions, Meijer Purple Cow ice cream and a first-of-its-kind hospitality area, called The Kimberly Clark Family Care Area, for lactation use and diaper changing needs.
The Grand Taste and the Grand Taste Garden make up the Grand Taste Experience, which is a one-of-a-kind event that’s considered the best food experience on tour. It’s a three-day food-tasting event held in massive on-course air-conditioned tents with dozens of local restaurants, breweries, Meijer vendors and products and live music.
It takes a lot to bring the tournament together each year and we couldn’t do it without our volunteers. Volunteering at the event is a great way to get close to the action and serve your community. Volunteer opportunities drew in more than 1,020 volunteers for the sixth annual tournament held June 10-16, 2019. Full event details can be found at meijerLPGAclassic.com.
