The doors aren’t even open at our new store in Seven Hills, Ohio, but our team has already made an impact on local families facing food insecurity. Store Director Ariko Jackson and his team helped provide and distribute 125 holiday meals to South Hills Lend A Hand Inc. for their annual Yuletide Hunger Program.
Seven Hills Mayor Tony Batista and City Superintendent Tony Terry asked if Meijer would be interested in donating a few canned goods for the event, but our store team wanted to make a bigger impact than just a few cans. The store provided the entire meal – donating 125 each of Meijer frozen turkeys, cans of green beans, cans of corn, and sweet potato pies.Ariko and team members David Kosman and Ann Perl, along with Seven Hills city workers, all came together to unload the truck, bag the items, and load up the meals into volunteers’ cars for delivery to those in need.
“This event truly allowed our mission at Meijer to come to life: Enriching lives in the communities we serve. Any time you can help provide a meal to someone in need is what life is truly about,” Ariko said. “Meijer allows me and my team to deliver on that purpose and show how we, as a company, are here to help.”
