Basketball players know the difference that a fresh pair of shoes can make—they provide renewed support in every sense of the word.
In mid-August, the Detroit Pistons, the Langston Galloway Foundation and Samaritan’s Feet came together to give team members at two of our Detroit-area stores new sneakers as a sign of gratitude for their work on the frontlines.
“I felt thankful and grateful,” Meijer team member Dykemia Parker said. “I love my shoes… I wear them every day!”
In addition to the gift, team members in the stores were also virtually greeted and thanked by Langston Galloway, the Pistons point guard and shooting guard who recorded a message of appreciation. In it, Galloway thanked them on behalf of himself and his wife, Sabrina, and assured them that their hard work is not going unnoticed.
“For Langston to recognize us for all the hard work we did during this pandemic, it felt really good,” Meijer grocery team lead Eric Koppman said.
