Amanda McVay has participated in the Meijer LPGA Classic 5k Run & Walk presented by Kellogg’s every year because she loves running.
“Running provides me a time to myself to feel active as well as to ‘think’ without interruptions,” she said.
But, the Meijer Group Vice President of Grocery opted to form a team with colleagues from the office and their families last year. In fact, she made it a friendly competition between her team and those on the Fresh Team.
“It was a fantastic team-building event,” McVay said. “Fresh won for speed. Grocery won for participation. It was also fun to get the families of our team involved.”
McVay said her two kids, Jacob and Mackenzie, also enjoyed participating and can’t wait to do it again.
“You do not need to be an avid runner to have fun,” she said. “It is a great event to get out and interact with the community in a different way than we do in our everyday roles.”
The Meijer LPGA Classic 5k Run & Walk is one of the many event held during tournament week for the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. The tournament benefits the Meijer Simply Give program that restocks the shelves of food pantries across the Midwest.
