Competition Begins at Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give

The Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give officially teed off at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 15. LPGA pro Joanna Klatten was the first off the first tee, beginning a day full of golf with over 140 players. By the end of the day, Brooke Henderson was in the lead at -8, a full eight strokes under par. The tournament’s 2015 champion, Lexi Thompson was in a close (tied) second place at -7.

To end the first day of official play, media and community members were invited to the Grand Taste Preview Night. In its second year at this tournament—and located along the 11th fairway—the Grand Taste is a three-day food-tasting event featuring local restaurants and breweries from all across the state of Michigan.
