Thousands of families across Wisconsin and Indiana had a Thanksgiving to remember, thanks to our partnerships with their favorite sports teams.
Wisconsin
The chef for the Green Bay Packers made meals for 750 families, equaling 3000 meals, that were delivered directly to their homes. Our Howard. Wisc. store team pitched in by volunteering to pack and deliver the food, as well as donating dessert, rolls, and grocery bags to help carry the haul.
“What a privilege to be a part of giving back within our communities! Our partnership with the Green Bay Packers opened up avenues to those that will benefit further from our partnership. We look forward to the change we will create by enriching the lives in the community we serve,” said Store Director Heidi Datema.
Indiana
Down in Indy, the Indianapolis Colts hosted a Thanksgiving event at Lucas Oil Stadium. “Horseshoe Helpings” was a food pickup event that served 2,400 area families. Our local stores got involved by donating cranberry sauce, gravy, and stuffing.
“Partnering with organizations like the Indianapolis Colts makes our mission of ‘enriching lives in the communities we serve’ that much easier. We are happy to work with them to help more than 2,000 families receive a Thanksgiving meal this year. We hope this small gesture makes a large impact on those that need it most,” Maureen Mitchell, Regional Vice President, said.
Feeding people is at the heart of what we do at Meijer, so it means a lot to us that our partners share that passion.
