The ThinkFirst program at the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH) is wrapping up a successful first year. Part of the hospital’s Injury Prevention Program, ThinkFirst teaches students the consequences of poor choices and the importance of good decision-making.
ThinkFirst was created because of a $115,000 donation by Meijer last spring. Throughout the year, the program has hosted several safety events in local communities that are available to schools for free.
One impactful element of ThinkFirst is the Voices for Injury Prevention segment. Individuals who have sustained a traumatic injury through a poor choice they or someone else has made share their stories with peers in hopes to impact and prevent similar injuries in their peers’ lives.
