For the seventh consecutive year, the Fred and Lena Meijer Scholarship program will award two $10,000 scholarships to Meijer team members and their children. The program also awards numerous $3,000 scholarships each year.
Last year, a total of $473,000 in scholarships was awarded to 153 team members and their children, furthering their education at 88 colleges and universities. Of that amount, two recipients received a $10,000 scholarship and 151 others received a $3,000 scholarship.
The Fred and Lena Scholarship is a private scholarship fund established by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation in 1975. It was originally created to benefit the children of Meijer team members, and was expanded in 2010 to include team members themselves.
