Meijer partnered with Autism Speaks for the first time this May to help put on the Chicago Autism Speaks Walk. The walk took place at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois and raised more than $800,000 to fund research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism, increased awareness of programs and advocacy for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

We donated 15,000 bottles of water and 15,000 bananas to the event to ensure that all of the participants had a nutritious snack and stayed hydrated as they walked in support of such a good cause. Meijer even had a team walking in the event, led by Tom Dant, our own North Chicago market director.
