As tradition, this year’s Thunder Over Louisville show on April 23 helped kick off the Kentucky Derby Festival. The dynamic air show has attracted an estimated half million people through the years, including several area residents in Louisville and southern Indiana.
The air show offered a unique experience that everyone in the family enjoyed with music in-line with the theme — No Strings Attached. It featured a special soundtrack with a wide range of music – from urban contemporary and pop to country and rock & roll. A few acts included the U.S. Navy parachute team, the Leap Frogs, the Trojan Horsemen T-28 demo team, as well as an impressive display of fireworks.
Aside from providing entertainment for the local community, Thunder Over Louisville is the region’s largest annual event that benefits other local nonprofit organizations, including the Louisville Science Center, Kentucky Center for the Arts, Louisville Slugger Museum, Easter Seals, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Louisville Ballet and the Belle of Louisville. Thunder Over Louisville is an important event that positively impacts the community year-round, and Meijer is proud to be a sponsor.
