Meijer is excited to be hosting the second annual Meijer State Games of Michigan – Winter Games featuring an estimated 2,000 athletes from all corners the state. The multi-sport, Olympic-style event includes 19 sports, eight of which are new to this year’s lineup.
The events kick off the weekend of Jan. 31, featuring the freestyle and Nordic cross country ski competitions, as well as the weightlifting competition.
The majority of the events take place Feb. 20-22, and the lighting of the cauldron officially opens the Games as part of the opening ceremonies at Cannonsburg Ski and Ride Area on Feb. 20. Festivities go well beyond the sporting events and include a torch light parade, fireworks, a “Big Air” exhibition featuring professional skiers and snowboarders, and special appearances by Olympians.
The Fatbike and Racquetball competitions will take place the weekend of February 28 and officially wrap up the 2015 Games.
