Congratulations to the West Michigan Sports Commission, Experience Grand Rapids and Meijer State Games of Michigan on securing a bid to host the 2017 State Games of America. The national selection team chose Grand Rapids over cities across the country.
The biannual Olympic-style event features competitions between State Games medal winners from across the nation, which will allow Michigan medalists to compete for national championships in their own backyard.
The State Games support the community and celebrate local athletes and we’re pleased to share this news. This year marked the 5th anniversary of the Meijer State Games of Michigan – Summer Games, which showcased nearly 7,000 athletes competing in 39 sports.
