Meijer works with hundreds of service providers on a regular basis to address needs at both the corporate and store levels. In an effort to gain a better understanding of Michigan-based service providers that have the potential to meet those needs, the Meijer Procurement Team met with a group of Michigan businesses at the recent 2014 Meijer Matchmaking Summit in Detroit.
“These businesses are here because they have the capabilities we think we’ll be shopping for in the next 6 months or so,” said Julie Croll, senior vice president of properties, real estate and procurement at the daylong summit.
The retailer worked with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Pure Michigan Business Connect initiative to hold a summit that resulted in one-on-one meetings with the retailer’s Procurement Team.
More than 120 Michigan companies that specialize in a variety of services – ranging from engineering and graphic design to equipment repair and advertising translation – attended the summit.
