Meijer President J.K. Symancyk participated in Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s “Go Orange” campaign to celebrate Hunger Action Month. During the month of September, Feeding America food banks nationwide raise awareness about hunger relief. Although we don’t have stores in the Milwaukee area yet, we believe it’s never too early to become a good neighbor. Earlier this year, Meijer donated two semi-trucks, trailer and 132,510 pounds of food to FAEW.
As a retailer with a mission to feed people, hunger has become an important philanthropic focus. Our signature hunger relief program, called Simply Give, encourages customers to help restock the shelves of our food pantry partners.
Thanks to the continued support of our customers, team members and food pantry partners, the Simply Give program has generated more than $9 million to help feed hungry families in the communities we serve since November 2008.
