U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team Player Sean Johnson recently visited the Cascade Meijer to sign autographs and encourage youth to hang onto their dreams. The in-store appearance also featured a $100,000 check presentation by Meijer and Mondelez to the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association, and five other state youth soccer associations, including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Northern Ohio and Southern Ohio.
The donation commemorates a grassroots campaign, Kick In for Your Community, and supports programs like Soccer Across America, which helps make youth soccer available to lower-income children in under-served communities, and TOPSoccer, which helps children with physical and other disabilities participate in the sport.
The event was well attended by local youth soccer players interested in meeting the 25-year-old goalkeeper for the Chicago Fire.
