On April 30, we’re opening Independence Market, a new neighborhood market in Independence Township, Mich. Store Director Robert Lajcaj is working to meet the community and help get the store fully stocked for opening day. Read on to learn more about Robert.
Q: How long have you worked at Meijer?
A: I have been working on the Meijer market format team for 5 years.
Q: What is your retail experience?
A: I have worked in retail for my entire career of 22 years, including two other grocery retailers.
Q: What do you love most about working for Meijer?
A: I love the family feel I get every day when I come to work. I truly appreciate the support that we receive as everyone knows that we are in this to succeed together.
Q: What excites you most about opening Independence Market?
A: I’m so excited to bring Clarkston and the surrounding communities a fresh and local shopping option. I cannot wait to show the community what Independence Market has to offer and welcome customers in the doors for a fun and exciting shopping experience!
Q: What's your favorite Meijer brand product?
A: I love all the Frederik’s products that we carry. If I had to pick just one favorite, I’d choose our Frederik’s Street Taco Sauces. All varieties have their own unique flavor, and I use them on everything, not just tacos.
Q: What's a fun fact about you?
A: I am a huge sports fan. I love watching a game with family or friends any time I get a chance. My favorite teams to watch are the Lions and the Red Wings, but I love cheering for any Detroit team.
Q: What do you love about the Clarkston/Independence Township community?
A: The people in the community are wonderful. Everyone I have had the pleasure of interacting with has been so kind and welcoming. The community is passionate about who they are and I’m very excited to be part of that community culture.
