Meijer and Boys & Girls Clubs: Leading on Food Access to Power Youth Success
July 06, 2026

For many children, school meals are the most reliable source of daily nutrition. When school is out—or the day ends—that support can quickly fall away. Meijer’s partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs helps families fill that gap by expanding access to healthy meals and snacks during after-school and summer hours, making support more relevant, reachable, and easy to access for families that need it most. The organization’s low or no-cost membership ensures food and care are accessible for families facing food insecurity.

Across Meijer-supported Clubs, tens of thousands of meals are served each year in safe, welcoming environments staffed by caring adults. In Kenosha, more than 27,000 nutritious meals were provided in a single year, addressing food insecurity in a county where nearly one-third of residents experience limited access to healthy food. In Northeast Ohio, Clubs served more than 142,000 meals and snacks, ensuring every child attending during mealtimes received nourishment. In North Central Illinois, Meijer’s support helped deliver 29,000 meals, reinforcing food access across dozens of school and community sites. For many young people, the meal they receive at the Club may be the most balanced—or only—meal of their day.

Meijer’s leadership in hunger relief extends beyond its stores into the neighborhoods it serves. By investing in partnerships that increase access to nutritious food, reduce barriers for families, and connect young people to mentorship and opportunity, Meijer is helping build stronger, healthier communities for the long term.

These kinds of efforts also reinforce what distinguishes the brand across the region: trusted fresh food offerings, strong local relationships, and a continued commitment to showing up for Midwest communities in meaningful ways.
