When Fairfax Market opens in Cleveland on Jan. 16, a new face with decades of retail experience will be leading the team. Alan Jordan is the Store Director at the new market located in the heart of the Fairfax neighborhood. The neighborhood market is designed to deliver convenience through a simplified shopping experience, while providing access to fresh food and local products.
Q: How long have you worked at Meijer?
A: A little over a year ago I was hired to open this store. During that time, our team has been working to engage with the community and build relationships with our amazing local vendors and partners.
Q: What is your retail experience?
A: I’ve been in retail management for 20 years across different companies. I moved to Cleveland in 2016 and absolutely fell in love with Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. It’s a big city with a small-town feel.
Q: What do you love most about working for Meijer?
A: We are empowered to be ambassadors and serve our communities in genuine ways. We have the opportunity to go out and truly engage and care for our community through donations and volunteering as part of the company culture.
Q: What excites you most about bringing Fairfax Market to Cleveland?
A: We get to be community advocates by providing fresh groceries, local products and value to communities that truly deserve it. We are a real neighborhood market that can truly service the community through local involvement.
Q: What's your favorite Meijer brand product?
A: I absolutely love Purple Cow ice cream. Purple Cow is the creamiest, smoothest, most delicious ice cream I’ve ever had, and Scooperman is my favorite flavor.
Q: What's a fun fact about you?
A: I’m a huge sports fan. I fell in love with Cleveland sports when I moved here.
Q: What do you love about the Fairfax community?
A: The people are so passionate and caring, and the community has an amazing history. Olympian Jesse Owens, writer Langston Hughes and musician Bobby Womack are all from Fairfax and it is a true privilege to be a part of this community.
