A beloved Northern Michigan destination is getting a fresh new look—and Meijer is proud to help bring it to life.
Michilimackinac State Park, one of Michigan’s oldest and most visited parks, is set for a series of improvements that will enhance the experience for the hundreds of thousands of guests who visit each year at the foot of the Mackinac Bridge.
The redesign aims to create a more welcoming, accessible gathering place while preserving the park’s rich history and breathtaking views of the Mackinac Bridge. Visitors can look forward to a scenic boardwalk along Lake Huron, accessible picnic spaces for families and groups, a pavilion for events and community gatherings, a pergola designed for weddings and special events, updated landscaping, and interpretive signage highlighting the history of the Straits of Mackinac.
These enhancements are part of a broader effort to modernize the park while ensuring it remains a place where Michiganders and visitors can gather to make memories.
Meijer is honored to support this effort through a major donation to the campaign helping fund the park’s improvements. This investment reflects Meijer’s commitment to strengthening the communities we serve—especially spaces that bring people together to celebrate what makes Michigan unique.
For many families, Michilimackinac State Park is more than a destination—it’s a tradition. From picnics on the shoreline to taking in iconic views of the Mackinac Bridge, it’s a place where memories are made year after year.
The planned improvements will create an even more inviting space for future visitors to explore, relax and connect.
Meijer is proud to stand alongside partners working to preserve and enhance one of Michigan’s most special gathering places—where history, community and nature come together.
