Hunger Relief

Truck Donation - Hunger Task Force 1
Before Meijer broke ground on proposed stores in the greater Milwaukee area, Co-Chairman Hank Meijer in November 2013 presents two semi-trucks and trailers full of food to Hunger Task Force.

Meijer has a long-standing commitment to helping fight hunger in the Midwest by historically keeping prices low for our customers and being one of the few local retailers to accept government assistance when it was first introduced during the Great Depression.

That commitment goes beyond the walls of each Meijer store, and connects to those who are struggling. In 2008, Meijer began establishing relationships with local food banks and pantries across the Midwest in an effort to help them fill community needs.

Hunger is a problem that continues to increase, but Meijer has helped make a difference through a variety of philanthropic efforts that include our food rescue and Simply Give programs, as well as donating reconditioned trucks and trailers to nonprofit organizations.
