Meijer is a family-owned company that is committed to the families of our customers and team members by providing positive solutions to everyday problems and strengthening the communities we serve. When Hendrik Meijer and Fred Meijer opened the first store in Greenville, Mich., more than 80 years ago, they became part of that community.

Their customers were their neighbors, friends and community members. Meijer was a thread in that community, and therefore, they understood the importance of helping those communities thrive and grow.

With hunger as a corporate philanthropic focus, Meijer partners with hundreds of food banks and pantries through our Simply Give and food rescue programs. Meijer also supports education, disaster relief, and health and wellness initiatives. That fundamental philosophy has remained at the heart of Meijer as we’ve grown through the years. As a result, we proudly donate more than 6 percent of our net profit each year to charitable organizations throughout the Midwest.

  • Meijer has a long-standing history of supporting hunger relief.
  • Meijer supports education through donations to community schools and the Fred & Lena Meijer Scholarship for team members, and their children.
  • Meijer aids in disaster relief efforts before disasters even strike.
  • Meijer supports a variety of health and wellness initiatives that make a big impact on the community.
