Supporting Grand Rapids Public Schools with 7,000 Bags of Supplies
Mar 5, 2021

When ArtPrize, a beloved Grand Rapids, Mich. community art festival, was cancelled due to COVID-19, it also meant the same for of many of its educational outreach programs. However, we partnered with PNC Bank to ensure Grand Rapids Public School students still had the tools they need to be creative, donating 7,000 bags of art and school supplies.

“We hope that the supplies in these bags will help to enrich the learning experiences of pre-K and elementary school students across the city,” said Jay Mahabir, Grand Rapids Market Director at Meijer. “Children are the building blocks for the future of our communities and we’re glad to invest in their success.”

The bags made use of the educational materials developed for ArtPrize Educations Days, as well as art supplies from our stores. The 7,000 drawstring bags of supplies were distributed directly to pre-K and elementary school students across the school system, some of whom are learning virtually.
