Woodward Corner Market Heads to the Meijer LPGA Classic
Feb 25, 2020

Ell Donelson joined the Meijer team less than a year ago to help open Woodward Corner Market, the new small format store in Royal Oak. But in that short time, she noticed how the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give reflects the company’s values.

“Meijer, as a company, gives back to the community in a variety of ways every day,” said the marketing manager. “I wanted to help out with Meijer’s mission of giving back, so I chose to donate my time to volunteer with the tournament. I truly believe it’s a great cause and want to get behind Meijer to support it.”

Donelson looks forward to volunteering for the first time at the tournament in the merchandise tent. Excited to put her fashion degree to use, she knows that the merchandise she will sell at the tournament is more than a stylish addition to an attendee’s wardrobe — it will serve as a reminder of their special experience for years to come.

The Meijer LPGA Classic will require more than 1,200 volunteers for this year’s event running June 8-14 at Blythefield Country Club. Volunteer opportunities range from transportation to standard bearers to hospitality. More information on volunteering can be found here.

The tournament will once again benefit the Meijer Simply Give program that stocks the shelves of food pantries across the Midwest. In total, the tournament has generated more than $5.2 million for the Meijer Simply Give program.

“I’ve never worked for a company that cares about the community as much as Meijer does,” Donelson said. “I take pride in working for a company that not only says they care but shows they do daily.”
