Each year, Meijer joins forces with law enforcement agencies and community partners across the Midwest to spread holiday cheer to children in need. The result: More than 100 Shop with a Hero and Toys for Tots events in Meijer stores throughout November and December.
A Toys for Tots event with the Saginaw area United State Marine Corps kicked the season off, and even drew interest from WNEM-TV.
Meijer donates thousands of dollars in Meijer gift cards for these events so children can have a happier holiday. Local police, firemen, Marines and community partners pair up with children to shop for gifts for themselves and their families. Each event is different with some featuring fun activities like photo ops with Santa, meals and event rides in police vehicles with sirens blaring.
“As a Marine myself, this is always one of my favorite events every year,” Saginaw Meijer Store Director Scott Neff said.
