Continuing its tradition of supporting the communities where its customers and team members work and live, Meijer invested in Wisconsin youth last month by purchasing five auction animals at the 47th Annual Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction at the 2015 Wisconsin State Fair.
Meijer purchased the Grand Champion Market Lamb, the Reserve Grand Champion Barrow, the Champion Spotted Barrow, the Champion Hampshire Barrow, and the Champion Poland China Barrow. Meijer donated the animals back to the exhibitors.
The livestock auction raised $419,750, breaking last year’s record by nearly $100,000 and several individual records. The majority of the proceeds go to the animal exhibitors, but a portion is set aside for scholarships.
