Michigan Farm is Committed to Providing Exceptional Locally-Grown Produce to Meijer Stores
Aug 12, 2015

Buying locally-grown produce began when Meijer first opened its doors more than 80 years ago. With more than 125 local growers across our six-state footprint today, it remains one of our longstanding commitments, as demonstrated through our partnership with E. Miedema & Sons, Inc.

Meijer began working with E. Miedema & Sons, Inc., a fourth generation family farm in Byron Center, Mich., nearly 80 years ago when Ralph Miedema delivered cabbage and squash to founder Hendrik Meijer at the Greenville, Mich. store. Ralph’s grandson, Dave Miedema, now operates the 1,500-acre farm with several family members, including his sons and nephews.

“Buying local is important to us because many of our friends and neighbors see our produce in our fields and wish to purchase it. They like to support us,” Miedema said.

We are proud to maintain this long-term partnership with the Meidema team, who work hard to help ensure our Michigan stores are stocked with their fresh selection of cabbage, sweet corn and squash.
