Field & Fire Wins Meijer LPGA Celebrity Chef Cookoff
Jul 25, 2015

Continuing the Meijer LPGA Classic tournament week, Meijer hosted a Celebrity Chef Cookoff for the Grand Rapids community at the Grand Rapids Public Museum on Friday, July 24. Nationally-acclaimed celebrity chef Mario Batali and returning culinary expert Gail Simmons prepared an appetizer and main dish for guests.

Guests also voted on their favorite dessert creations from three Grand Rapids bakeries, Cakabakery, Field & Fire and Sweetie-Licious. Field & Fire, known for their artisan breads and croissants, took home the win: $2,500 in Meijer gift cards, along with a $10,000 donation in their name to a local Simply Give food pantry of their choice.

The driving mission of Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft is feeding the hungry and improving the quality of life for our neighbors throughout the region. Similar to last year, proceeds from the tournament – and each of the week’s community events – will benefit our Simply Give  program, which has helped food pantries across the Midwest keep their shelves stocked since November 2008. Last year, the inaugural Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft raised more than $600,000 for the program to feed those in need.
