On April 18, the 26th annual Thunder Over Louisville celebration officially kicked off the Kentucky Derby Festival – two weeks with 70 events for everyone in the family as well as the always popular airshow. Keeping with this year’s theme, Boom with a View, the show was heart-pounding with fireworks and a soundtrack featuring top hits from the past year.
The air show also included both military and civilian air acts. One of the highlights included America’s “Ambassadors in Blue,” the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds. The Kentucky Air National Guard returned with their C-130 aircraft, and several teams performed demonstrations, including the U.S. Army’s official aerial team, the Golden Knights, and the U.S. Marines Harrier demo team. Other acts in this year’s line-up included Kate Kyer Aerobatics, the Trojan Horsemen and Bill Leff Nightshow.
